Where does the name William J. Walter come from?

The founders wanted a name that would stand out, reflect their personal connection to the business and have an international flair. To achieve this, the brothers coined the term “saucissier.” It’s worth noting—this word doesn’t exist in any dictionary! The fact that it has become a household term in Quebec today is, without a doubt, a true testament to our success over the years.

Next, they needed a more personal touch to complement “saucissier.” The connection to the primary ingredient, pork, became clear, and the image of the three little pigs, representing the founders, seemed like a natural fit. Each pig was given a name: WILLIAM, JOSEPH, and WALTER—giving birth to the iconic Quebec brand: WILLIAM J. WALTER SAUCISSIER.
